With personalized consumer experiences becoming standard, the gaming company aimed to raise average revenue per user (ARPU) by offering real-time, player-specific promotions at casino machines. Frequent visitor cards already used by players were selected as the personalization method.
The goal was to build a device capable of reading these cards, accessing a player database, analyzing behavior, and generating custom offers based on location, history, and preferences. Achieving this required embedded processing, display integration, Ethernet connectivity, and an intuitive user interface—all while ensuring fast development and seamless casino integration. The company chose our team to co-develop and manufacture a durable, scalable solution with a path for future upgrades.

A custom baseboard was designed around our SoM to support Ethernet, an LCD screen, a card reader, and the firmware for the user interface. This allowed the device to access the casino’s database via Ethernet and deliver personalized messages based on the player’s gaming history.
The SoM provided quick time-to-market and a reliable processing foundation. Once validated, we supplied the tested SoM and baseboard for integration. Beyond development, we enabled long-term sustainability by building a migration path with our SoM-LV, allowing future updates without changing existing hardware. Our modular design ensured both rapid deployment and lasting flexibility in the evolving casino technology environment.
Result
The product was deployed in millions of gaming machines worldwide, boosting ARPU through personalized incentives like credits and upgrades. We continued supporting the system through sustained engineering and obsolescence management. When upgrades were needed, our team built a migration path using our SoM-LV, enabling seamless future improvements without hardware replacement.
