This heating and cooling customer partnered with our team to enhance the user experience of building climate control systems. Acting as a complete product lifecycle partner, we delivered a smart interface that enables building managers to access vital system data quickly, ensuring efficient, user-friendly operation.
Customer Profile
The customer is a global leader in advanced air conditioning systems, serving commercial and industrial clients. They focus on delivering innovative climate control solutions with a strong emphasis on user-centric design, energy efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
Challenge
Building managers are responsible for maintaining comfortable, energy-efficient environments. However, the complexity of existing climate control systems often prevents them from making timely, effective adjustments. This leads to inefficiencies, occupant discomfort, and compliance concerns. The customer saw an opportunity to empower building managers with better control. They partnered with our team to develop an intuitive, robust control panel capable of withstanding harsh conditions while improving user experience.
The panel needed to offer real-time insights into HVAC system performance, be ergonomically accessible, and support multiple languages. At the same time, the solution had to meet rigorous environmental and compliance standards, endure industrial conditions, and integrate seamlessly into existing infrastructure—all within a controlled development timeline.
Solution Summary
We developed a rugged, multilingual, and ergonomic HVAC control panel using our iSoM, helping the customer reduce costs, streamline usability, and meet global certification requirements.
Solution
Our team supported every phase of the control panel lifecycle—from road mapping to development and manufacturing. Initial configuration studies revealed the product’s use in harsh environments, including industrial chiller plants.
Our design team created an IP56-compliant enclosure with an ergonomic arm and 12-inch LCD screen for optimal visibility. To reduce development time and meet durability needs, we repurposed our PXA270 System-on-Module (SoM), integrating it directly into a single PCB to create an iSoM. This eliminated board-to-board connection risks while preserving the benefits of a standard SoM. Our software engineers added Windows CE device drivers and multilingual support for 24 languages.
Rigorous testing included HALT and Gage R&R to validate reliability, durability, and certification readiness. We also collaborated on packaging design to ensure the product survived rough transit conditions.
Result
The final control panel gives building managers real-time system access through a large, multilingual display and a user-friendly interface. Our iSoM helped the customer minimize development costs and accelerate time-to-market. The durable solution met all performance and compliance requirements while improving accessibility and system insight.
